COURSE DESCRIPTION
Dr. Viktor E. Frankl is universally recognized for his meaning-oriented therapy (logotherapy), but his contribution to the positive psychology of wellbeing and flourishing is still not widely known. At the end of this legacy certificate course, all participants will gain a deeper understanding of:
- How historical/cultural forces and the power of Frankl’s personality and intellect shaped his ideas and clinical practices.
- Frankl’s adventures in exploring the heights and depths of the human quest for meaning.
- Frankl’s revolutionary concepts of the height of our yearning for Ultimate meaning and the depth of our capacity to endure suffering as the antidote to suffering.
- Wong’s recent development of Frankl’s logotherapy as the foundation for a general theory of sustainable global flourishing.
All participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of this course.
COURSE PRESENTER
Dr. Paul T. P. Wong, Ph.D., was a distinguished Canadian clinical psychologist and professor emeritus who developed existential positive psychology and integrative meaning therapy. Over 50+ years, he published over 300 articles and book chapters, as well as eight influential books. Wong was the Founding President of the International Network on Personal Meaning (INPM) and Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Existential Positive Psychology.
COURSE DEVELOPER
Tim T. F. Yu, B.Sc., was Dr. Wong’s research assistant for 6 years. As an aspiring graduate student in clinical psychology, he worked extensively on Wong’s Existential Wellbeing Model and published it in several scholarly journals. He served on the INPM’s Board of Directors for a number of years. He continues Dr. Wong’s legacy by refining his theories and translating his research into clear, accessible knowledge for all.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This is an intermediate level certificate course for psychologists, counsellors, social workers, coaches, health care professionals, first responders, and educators.

Q: How will this course be structured?
A: There will be 9 lessons in total. Lesson 1 will be an introductory lesson while Lessons 2–9 will be content lessons. For each content lesson, there will be readings and videos (asynchronous lectures by Dr. Wong or archival clips of Dr. Frankl) that are relevant to that lesson’s theme. Your grade in this course will be based on three components: quizzes, discussion questions, and the final essay.
Q: I am unclear about the number of curriculum hours needed to complete the course, and about how much time to set aside.
